Blacksburg Virgina-Quickie

[Tuff Gong]

Quick trip to Blacksburg Virginia, V-Tech City, pretty sure I am doing it no justice.

Not my cup of tea. Nice town but looks too new and shiny.
New really got to see too much, but lots of signs.
Seems as if there is a pitch battle via signs over a proposed Zoning change.

The funny thing is all or most of the signs against Ordinance 1450, were on older commercial buildings, that were empty and looked as if they had seen better days.




A few of these are still around town.

One notable exception.









I ain't no Hokie from Skokie but these will grow on you. I heard a rumor that the folks who ply their trade as artist wanted nothing to do with this project, but Hokie Mascots in drag, ended up selling for thousands $ real money.

I hate to sound stupid, but what is a "Hokie" and where did the word come from? [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif[/img] Huh...a tough lookin chicken dressed up like Captain America.

I like the tree shots, the town is cute, but for the life of me I could never take a liking to the funky chicken statues! I guess I ain't a hokie either, lol. Nice camouflaged trees, love them!
