Went in November.

A going post some pictures later on this month from di trip. Mi tek 500 pictures affi sort dem out.

depen on wich pawt u go an weh u go fah...poverty an di likkle street kids wi kill u heart....if u no skinny an look goodish, bad mine wi mek u screw face di whole time...if u a go fi look man r ooman a a pay, well u find u place...

now if u go Bahai, well den, as a black smaddy, u a go home....

odda dan dat, vibrant, colourful, exotic,heartrending, heartbreaking, and dat portuguese language got to go....an why of why black people still cyant get a break in everyday life , once u cut weh di music, food and beaches

My cous went a couple of years ago for the Rio Carnival. She really enjoyed it and she shot a lot of video and pictures which I put on DVD for her.

I hear Brazil is right behind China and India as far as the worlds fastest emerging economies goes.

If you working the flight you only get 28 hours layover. Mi go fi 15 days.

The two domestic airports in Rio and Sao Paulo are somewhat challenging to land. Rio in particular. The two international airports in Rio and Sao Paulo are easy. My airline only flies to Sao Paulo as of now.

The exciting airport you must be talking about is Rio's Santos DuMont. It's surrounded by water and the runway is very short. At the end of the runway is a road with a guardbooth where the man close the road everytime there is a landing or takeoff and a loud siren come on. If there is a car driving on the road and a plane landing the plane will lick the car! [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img]

When the plane take off it has to turn left right away to avoid hitting the Sugarloaf Mountain. On landing it banks left onto final with the Sugarloaf ahead (pic)

The road that gets closed is on the bottom (leading to the small island)

The domestic airport in Sao Paulo is Congonhas. It is in the middle of the city (like Chicago Midway) with short runways as well. The runways are also elevated so there is a drop at either end. That's where the fatal accident happened earlier this year. (notice smoke from the builidng the plane hit after running off the end of the runway)

always felt dem put dat statue dere so as to discourage pilots from licking dat mountain [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] it is something to behold from a plane dont....the fuss time i had a chance to go to Bahai, i fought like crazy to mek it happen..everyone goes to Rio for carnival, and Jimmy Cliff, who lived in Brazil for years wud tawk about Bahai..an wen dem started to invite reggae artists and one of mine was invited, chile, i practically took ovah di booking agents job fi mek it happen..fi real...afta dat,i was hooked on Bahai...if u sneeze mi was in Bahai fi mek sure di snot no ketch me [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif[/img] matta of fak u a mek mi tink of a place to go live fi awhile fi real... It's not as cheap as you think. With the dollar weak and the Brazil economy strong you have to shell out for that retirement house.

In a little quaint town between Rio and S.P. near the beach a 2 bedroom house we nuh look too hot from di outside was selling fi US$320,000! [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] Mi did a check a real estate agency caw fi mi madda a realta an she always ask mi how much house sell weh mi de.

if you haven't already read books by Jorge Amado I recommend them to you, Magic. Lots of his stories are set in Bahia. He's most famous for his novel "Dona Flor and her Two Husbands" which was made into a movie.
