Did you notice that not only did I remove your signature, but all the cars, the telephone poles and the wires, and the Stop sign. I reconstructed the building behind the signs, and rebuilt the big orange sign on the other side of the road. Is it still a "stolen" photograph?

I worked in advertising long ago. Back then much of the illustrations and fancy typefaces that you found in newspaper advertising were created by "swiping" the images or type styles from advertisements that had appeared in the past by different advertisers. "Swiping" wasn't as awful back then as "stealing" is today. "Swiping" meant that you copied by photographing, but then you changed what you had swiped, into what you wanted to promote. These "swipes" were filed too, so they could be used again.

Oh yeah, I did notice the "reconstruction", which is like someone stealing a car and repainting it [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img] Seriously though, I guess if I was more concerned about it I would be looking for different ways of securing the images. I do agree with you that "if any of us who are concerned that our photos may be stolen, should experiment making the smallest file that still allows a nice computer image when viewed online." The only downside of course being that some images are more effective @ 640x480, than they would at say 240x180.

Your perspective is rather compelling and I appreciate your sharing it.

You know I never noticed the difference until you pointed it out, and I went back to look.

I never was good at the "I spy" games as a toddle either.

never used the watermark.. but its very much used.. i have only used the right click forbid to copy and save.. but im sure thats easily by passed as well...

do what makes you comfortable.. thats always how i feel..

but what forty says is true.. if the sizes are small enough.. the image cant be copied and then printed with much satisfaction.

i do also agree with nanook.. if someone uses something of yours elsewhere its nice to ask and or give credit...

someone gave me a phographers link to his website and blog. he had pulled a quote from my web page from my bio... was all nice.. but he never told me. i came to it circuitously.. would have been nice.. to just know.. as it was an accolade ..
