By The Lakeshore...

Every now and again, strolling in one of my favorite parks along the Lakeshore is one of my past-times. A great way to relax, and enjoy the solitude. This time, on a somewhat overcast evening, I took my camera with me and captured some of what I saw. Not much narrative; the pics will speak for themselves.

The footbridge leading to/from the parking lot.

I was surprised to see this little guy below, but there he was darting in and out of his habitat searching for food.

The lamp's design reminded me of something Victorian...



On this particular day I could relate so much to the guy standing on the bridge. There's something, a feeling, that is hard to put into words when one stands in quietness away from the hustle and bustle of every day happenings. Not only does it relaxes the mind and body, but it is like a cleansing of the soul. "Be still and know that I am God" is the Bible verse that comes readily to mind.



I loved the condos against the greenery. A wide-lens shot taken from a distance away.

There is nothing quite like the sound of water gently 'kissing' the rocks. If you've never noticed it, try and listen the next time you're in a place where it is happening. All that is required is a 'still' mind; not the easiest of task for some people, but a discipline well worth pursuing.

turtledude, churchgirl: Thank you both. This particular park has been one of my get-away spots since the early 90s. It has been developed quite a bit since, but whomever is/was responsible for the development did an excellent job in maintaining that distinct ambiance that one would expect in this kind of environment. No matter how tired I am, or stressed I feel, spending a couple hours here *always* rejuvenates me. Of course, that's not the only reason to go there. It just a great retreat away from life's demands; a chance to be alone with oneself, and for those who are spiritual, with God. Great for families and couples as well who need that away time together.

Beautiful pics and one of my favourite summer hangout spots. There's a pond closer to the High Park side where I love to sit and watch the grown folks play with their little motorized boats while the kids fly their kites.

Thank you. I've never been to High Park, but hobbyists do the little motorized boat thing at this location as well.

I could have stayed here for hours...



The pic below wasn't staged; the Timmy's cup was already there when I got to this spot. I really liked it against the rock. Just another sign that Canadians go anywhere with their Timmys. Even our soldiers in Afghanistan have a Tim Horton's outlet over there.



The rippling sound of water over rocks was simply awesome.

It was as if s/he knew the picture was being taken. I was very pleased with the outcome of this particular picture as birdie was like an hyperactive child; just wouldn't stay still.
