A Swedish Birthday Adventure....

So Sunday was Swedish's birthday, and spur of the moment a plan came together wherein I flew down to spend the weekend, and go to see Lucky Dube with her. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70371-jump.gif[/img] Everything came together like it was meant to be, and by the afternoon I had Imanni taken care of for the weekend, and airline tickets in hand [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yahoo.gif[/img] I went and picked up his father, and took him and Imanni back to my house, and started packing...

So Swedish is an early riser, and I am far from it!
I arrange for her to call my cell phone until I answer, and make sure I don't miss my flight [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70394-sleeping.gif[/img]


True to form 6am on Saturday my phone is ringing [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif[/img]

I answer and we chat a bit:

Do I have everything packed? Did I remember the camera, the phone, the chargers for both?? She just saw a show on alarm clocks - one that rolls around the room until you catch it and turn it off... I think how I would kill the thing when I caught it [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif[/img] (I hate mornings [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif[/img] )


Ok, showered, dressed, packed, and ready to go...

I kiss my baby goodbye [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70373-kiss.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img] and head for the airport....

I actually go to a friends house down the street from Oakland Airport and take a cab from there...

The cab driver is cool, and we talk about the dangers of cab driving. Seems he was happy to see my smiling face that morning...

The man was just robbed at gun point the week before for $40 [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif[/img]

I could never drive a cab [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/nahtalktoyuh.gif[/img]

I am standing outside the airport talking to Swedish and this motorhome pulls up and about 10 women pile out with their bags in tow...





They are all smiling and laughing, and I wonder where all of them are headed...

I walk through the doors of the airport and the line for security is very LONG.

I start to freak out a little [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif[/img] I have 1 hour to get to the gate!


I take my place in line, and feel a little better once I see how fast the line is moving.

I get to the gate in plenty of time, and my plane is waiting [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70371-jump.gif[/img]

I had printed my boarding pass from home so I was in group A

When I got on the plane there was a seat right in front [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70371-jump.gif[/img]

I had to store my carry-on back a few rows, but that was cool with me [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70409-waytogo.gif[/img]


The pilot came on, and I had to flirt with him a little [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif[/img]

He reminded me of Magic [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70377-loveeyes.gif[/img] and I asked if I could take his picture for my trip report. He smiled, and posed for me as he went in the cockpit [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]




I told him this way my family would know who to blame if I didn't make it [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

He says well, if you don't make it I won't either so they can blame away [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

Great Guy [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70409-waytogo.gif[/img] and I enjoyed the banter back in forth... [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]


THe flight was short and sweet, Southwest is a no-hassle airline, and I love it!!


So I am browsing through the sky mall magazine, and I see another alarm clock you have to chase, and I took a pic to show Swedish [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]


Can you imagine waking up and chasing this screaching thing around your room [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif[/img]

Then I see another thing that makes me laugh...

In no time we are making our decent into LA. I look out the window [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] I never realized just how big LA really is [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif[/img]

The flight was early, and I was on the curb waiting when Swedish pulled up! [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bannana_purple.gif[/img]


We take off in her cute little Scion full of Jamaica and Rasta decorations, Reggae music thumping [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]

It feels good to be free of the 3 year old, and I am ready to play [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70371-jump.gif[/img]


We drive through the streets of LA.

Lined with palm trees, and full of expensive cars with dangerous drivers [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img]

We're not in Kansas anymore toto [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif[/img]

Swedish fits right in with the drivers, and starts speaking tounges when one of them cuts us off [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

LA drivers [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif[/img]

So we grab some food and head back to her place...

The woman was not lying when she said she lives by the CBS studio [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] it's literally 3 blocks from her house!
