London layover, Barcelona and more...

I had a great time on my travel... Visited my friend whom I hadn't seen in 16 years, even though we stayed in touch over phone and internet. There was so much catching up to do and in very little time. I didn't get to see much of London itself but I had a great time with Px and her family.


Barcelona... one of many trips to Spain but second time to Catalunya. My friend was there a few days before I did. We had a great time with family and friends... spending much of our time in Barcelona city, then a few days in Llagostera a small town outside of Girona. On this trip, I wasn't a tourist, it felt like I was an erstwhile resident back from some overseas jaunt and getting back to the rhythm of a familiar jaunt...


I ate like a horse and didn't gain a pound lol..., visited local dives, drank fine wine every day, danced the evenings away, stayed up too late every night and there were times I was so tired I fell asleep when conversations switched to languages that I could not keep up with... Ran most days, the same as I would when at home.


Turkey didn't happen... we decided to forego Istanbul til another time...maybe December.


I took pics but it is just a handful... nothing new that I haven't posted before.

Did you do the taxi tour in London? How was it? Was it due to the unrest that you nixed your plans for Turkey?

No, I didn't. My friend nixed the idea of taxi...she had her husband meet me at the airport.

The unrest in Turkey was the deciding factor to cancel going to Istanbul. It would've been for 5 days, so I decided to put off Turkey and do better planning til after things are settled, and if things are still not settled there... just bypass Istanbul. Have you been to Turkey, Tropi?

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. I love it when I over indulge and don't gain a pound. Those are the best holidays.

I didn't take much pics... The first two were taken at Plaza Espana, which is a big city square and rife with tourists.

The 3rd pic, I stopped by a wine and meat shop... he had a great wine selection.

I have couple very videos... one I took at a Senegalese restaurant... lots of entertainment, djembe drumming and dancing. When it comes to dancing, I can't be an onlooker, I have to join the performers. lol! The other in Llogestera at a converted casino and it was Saint Juan night, lots of fireworks and the Catalonians were celebrating... A bunch of randy seniors were putting on the moves with their dancing feet at the townhall. My friends and I couldn't resist.. we jumped in and danced the night away with the old people to some old Spanish music. La caramba!
