I could not get enough of Switzerland where it is closer to Italy. The area remind me so much of the aspen areas of Colorado and north California. My husband and I were a curiosity as people stared at us--we waved and no one waved back. Well we found this throughout the entire trip. I couldn't figure out if Europeans generally loved to stare and were not friendly.

At this point, we had to consult our map. Okay, where were we...looks like we got off the road we suppose to be on and it's time to find a bed & breakfast to spend the night. All this driving with occasional stops can be tiring.

It was a chilly evening and the road ended at a trail where vehicles were not allowed. What a good time to take out my running shoes! My husband decided to turn back from where we had entered and drove 3 miles down the hilly winding road. Turned out I had missed this leg of the route as I had fallen asleep. So he drove and I did my running. My lungs were bursting as we were at 2000 mls elevation.

We stayed at this hotel for the night.

By now, we were in the germanic parts of Switzerland. The style of the houses had changed and signs were no longer in Italian. We took a series of passes, travelling on very narrow roads with steep climbs and dangerous hairpin bends. Throughout these routes I drove and I wasn't enjoying it.

The snow capped mountains were in the distant and this was where we were headed.


I felt like we were no where. It was just mountains all around and the only sign of civilization was the occasional vehicle making their way through the mountain pass.

Wow SandiF these pic's look just like the commercial with the carmel candy. Just like a postcard. So beautiful. Hope to reach one day soon.

I'm glad you're all enjoying the pics and my lame attempt at a trip report [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/desdentado.gif[/img]

TSmall, we had all plans to get into Sicily via a ferry from Genova to Corsica and another ferry from Corsica to Sicily. But after spending hours upon hours driving around Genova trying to find the ferry entrance at the port...we gave up. Well, after talking to bro-in-law, he said that would've been a long heck of a ride as the ferry from Genova to Corisca was 10 hrs. So, we decided next time we visit we all go to Sicily. A good place to go I heard are the volcanic islands between the strait of Sicily and Italy.

SisCtry...if mi win the lottery mi would find a little shangrila somewhere in the mediterranean regions.

The mountain views were just scenic and somehow we got a pic of the Matterhorn mountain (remember Matterhorn cigarette!) and didn't realise we were looking at it. On this day, the cold I had felt more like a flu...mi feel like mi couldn't move a muscle and the weather started having a little chill to it. I did wish I could've done more running, and hiking as so often we'll see Europeans dressed in their hiking gear, peg stick and all...from grandma to little pickney. Got to give it up to them they all seem to live a very healthy lifestyle...something I don't see in the US.

You can see the river running through the town. The rivers were all milky all throughout the countries and reminded me of our Milk River in Jamaica.
