HUGH Buchanan's pronouncement that it is his 'stabilisation' of the St Elizabeth South West constituency which led to the resignation of the Jamaica Labour Party's Dr Christopher Tufton as constituency chairman and caretaker has been largely greeted with criticisms by Jamaica Observer online readers, with some describing him as arrogant. In a Sunday Observer story, Buchanan stated that winning the seat in the 2011 general election by a mere 13 votes was key to getting Dr Tufton "out of the constituency". Buchanan said that the legacy of his late father Danny, who served the constituency for several years, and that of his mother led to his defeat of Tufton and the former MP's decision to quit.
