ADOLESCENT leaders of tomorrow at Alpha Academy received a crash course in Empowerment 101 from the corporate movers of today, as Sheree Martin (second right), senior vice-president, customer and corporate services at Jamaica Public Service (JPS) — herself a proud alum of the all-girls’ high school — hosted a special Jamaica Observer Salut! Applaud It! luncheon for 10 students from the school, joined by their vice-principal Elcena Christie and administrative assistant Bibi Singh. Martin’s philanthropic gesture, endorsed by her boss, President and CEO Kelly Tomblin, provided a welcome opportunity for the young women to hear inspirational tales of success, and were encouraged to never be fearful of realising whatever career dreams they may have. Here’s a look at the JPS Foundation’s Salut! Applaud It! lunch catered by The Occasion Hospitality Services, which incidentally is coowned by an Alpha alum, Elaine Meredith!
