A team from the Jamaica Observer combed mangroves on the harbour side of the Palisadoes Road yesterday, as part of International Coastal Clean-up Day which is co-ordinated locally by the Jamaica Environment Trust. The mangrove environment required bending under trees, navigating thorns, and avoiding areas of soft earth, but we managed to fill 20 garbage bags, which included over 1,000 plastic drinking bottles.
