Sport teaches discipline while the participants are enjoying themselves without realising it. Discipline, which is internalised, does not have to be externally imposed and enforced. A disciplined person does not have to be made punctual by punitive sanctions, nor do we need a campaign to make drivers obey the road code by a traffic policeman and a fine. Drawing and propagating the lessons of success in sport are valuable to the individuals and to the society.
