THE removal of a water tank from the community of Hampshire, St Catherine, by representatives of the St Catherine Parish Council on Monday, has sparked concern among Jamaica Observer online readers. Residents told this newspaper on Monday that the parish council served no notice before moving the large tank — the larger of two that have been fixtures in the community since the late 1960s. They said that they are far less hopeful now that they will ever again see piped water restored to the community, which has a population of nearly 3,000, according to the last population census.
