Scores of Jamaicans, some of them holding official positions in the society, paid their respects to the late politician and lawyer, Dudley J Thompson on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth, at a ceremony held at the Garrison cemetery, Up Park Camp in St Andrew on Thursday. Thompson, a Rhodes Scholar who was nicknamed Burning Spear, was also a Pan-Africanist, ambassador, and teacher who died on January 20, 2012, a day after his 95th birthday.
