Students at St Aloysius Primary School in downtown Kingston worship together prior to sitting their first Grade Six Achievemnt Test yesterday. One of their classmates, Darling Salmon, was hit by a car yesterday, but the Ministry of Education said in a release that she was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where she was examined. Her parents, according to the ministry, said given that her condition was not considered serious they wanted her to sit the exams. She was reported to be in good spirits and was given additional time to do the exams. More than 39,000 students across the island are registered to sit the two-day examinations and, according to the ministry, most of the 1,109 centres used for this year’s test were opened on time and students were able do yesterday’s mathematics and social studies papers without any problems. Students will do language arts, communication task and science today. (Photo: Karl McLarty)
