Dominic Plummer, a grade two student at Albion Primary School in Manchester, reads from The Holiday, one of several books donated to the school as well as learning aids, pieces of equipment and furniture by The Jarrett Foundation — a United Kingdom-based charity operated by second and third generation Jamaican migrants. Listening keenly to Dominic are (from left) Gabriel Heron, marketing and business development manager at JN Money Services (JNMS) Limited; the Jarrett Foundation's local representative Craig Larmond; and the foundation's Chief Executive Officer Pearl Jarrett. The UK-based charity partnered with the JN Foundation to ship a 40-ft container of furniture, books and supplies for donation to schools across the country. Some 27 primary schools, including Albion, have already benefited from the initiative. The Jarrett Foundation will partner with JNMS to maintain its contributions to primary, all-age and junior high schools across the country under the Jamaica Partnership for Education initiative — a project involving the JN Foundation and JNMS through its JN Money Transfer branches overseas. The project raises funds in the Diaspora to help eradicate illiteracy in primary schools by 2015.
