A story published yesterday about the resilience of wheelchair-bound teacher Joy Smith has warmed the hearts of many Jamaica Observer online readers. Smith, who teaches at the Padmore Primary School in West Rural St Andrew, is determined to play her part in nation-building, despite being in urgent need of a motorised chair that would reduce the need to rely on others to help her move around, including trips to the school's restroom.
