JAMAICA Observer online readers have poured cold water on the announcement of a $500-million infrastructure programme to rehabilitate roads across the island. Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller made the announcement Wednesday while opening a bridge in Kintyre, East Rural St Andrew. However, Observer readers believe the initiative is nothing more than a crash programme designed to provide temporary work for die-hard supporters during the Christmas season. Many also believe that not much is being done in terms of policy to curb the out-of-control crime rate. Here are some edited comments:
