A British grandmother, caught smuggling cannabis worth 51,000 pounds sterling from Jamaica through Gatwick Airport, has been jailed for two years.
Margaret Simms, 57, of Peat Moors, denied bringing 17 kilograms of the drug into the UK in November last year. She was convicted by a jury at a previous hearing and sentenced on Tuesday.
The woman had flown to the Caribbean to visit her Jamaican husband. Inner London Crown Court heard she was acting under duress. She told the jury she was a victim of threats.
