Police in Kansas City have made a major drug bust that they say uncovered links to a Jamaican group.
A federal indictment claims that distribution of marijuana to Phoenix to Kansas City and other locations earned the drug organisation more than US$22 million.
The indictment, unsealed in federal court in Kansas yesterday, charged 20 people with being part of a Jamaican group that trafficked about 2,000 pounds of marijuana each month.
Twenty defendants have been charged in the indictment, which alleges the traffickers shipped more than 23,000 pounds of marijuana from Phoenix, Arizona, to metro Kansas City at the direction of the leaders of the conspiracy, <span style="font-weight: bold">Gladstone McDowell, 50 and Michael Francois, 39, Kansas City.</span>
Possession with intent to distribute marijuana carries a maximum penalty of 20 years and a fine of up to US$1 million. (Caribworldnews)
