The police have made another big ammunition bust.
Nearly 500 assorted rounds of ammunition suspected to have been stolen from the Police Armoury were seized during an operation by the East Kingston Police on Friday.
A bullet proof vest and one army fatigue jacket were also among the items seized.
Shortly after 2pm, the cops were carrying out an operation in the 100 Lane or "Backbush" area off Mountain View Avenue when they reportedly came under heavy gunfire from armed thugs.
The cops returned fire and the gunmen retreated into the nearby hills.
During a search of the area, the police reportedly found the assorted rounds of ammunition and the ballistics vest.
The cops have since launched a search for five men they say were involved in the shooting.
One Hundred Lane or "Backbush" is a short distance from Munster Road where the police recently seized 18 guns and nearly 11,000 rounds of ammunition stolen from the Police Armoury on February 4.
On Friday morning, the police carried out a pre-dawn operation along Third Avenue and seized 3,000 pirated DVDs and arrested two persons.
