


Former Prime Minister sues media house

Former Prime Minister P.J. Patterson.Lawyers representing former Prime Minister P.J. Patterson have filed a defamation lawsuit against the Nationwide News Network, seeking millions of dollars in damages.
Mr. Patterson's lawyers, Knight, Junor and Samuels, reported Friday that they served the claim on the attorneys for the head of the station, Cliff Hughes.
The claim relates to an item of news aired by the station in May 2009.
<span style="font-weight: bold">The station reportedly carried a story about an incident at the Norman Manley International Airport involving a Digicel charter flight which arrived from Cuba with the former Prime Minister</span>.
Mr. Patterson asserts that he has been defamed and is now seeking millions of dollars in general, aggravated and exemplary damages.
