A male hairdresser, who described himself as a 'homeless sexual', left quite an impression in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday when his matter was heard.
The man, Martin Samuels, who is charged with simple larceny, pleaded not guilty and was remanded until January 5.
Eyebrows were raised in the courtroom as the accused addressed the court in a rather effeminate manner while he tried to explain where he resided in an attempt to verify his address. The accused later told the court that he had been staying with a friend who gave him "a squeeze".
He told the court that the Jamaica Forum for Lesbians, All-Sexuals and Gays (J-Flag) was responsible for him as they put him up. The court later instructed that background checks are to be made on the accused to confirm his address.
Allegations are that the accused was among a group of passengers who had chartered a taxi to New Kingston and later refused to pay their fare in full, and fled from the taxi.
It was said that the complainant, the taxi driver, later saw the accused in possession of his DVD player, valued at $47,000, while he was running away.

A report was later made to the New Kingston Police Post and following investigations, Samuels was charged.
