A man who attempted to rob a shoe establishment in Linstead, St Catherine, was disarmed by a businessman.
The man, who is being sought by the police, ran away leaving a Lorcin 9mm pistol with a number of rounds.
Reports reaching The Star are that about 1 p.m. last Friday, the would-be robber went to the business place in the middle of Linstead.
He brandished the gun and demanded money, however, before his demand could be met he was quickly held by the businessman and the gun taken from him. The gunman immediately fled the establishment. The Linstead police were called and the weapon handed over to them.
Earlier this year, a semi-automatic pistol was taken from a robber outside Linstead, after he was flattened with a stone.
