DAEGU, South Korea: "Yow! wah gwaan? Everything good?" That's the greeting, not from a Jamaican, but from Seung Yeon Kim, a South Korean who has been living in Jamaica for the past 13 years.
Today, he is back in his home country to ensure that his adopted countrymen are as comfortable as possible.
Kim is part of a 12-member group of young people from the Christian-based organisation, the International Youth Fellowship, whose sole purpose is to see to it that the Jamaican athletes competing here in Daegu, South Korea, at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics, have as little reason as possible to miss home.
The members of the group, who have all spent time in Jamaica on volunteer duties, undertake duties as cook, and engage the Jamaicans in various activities to lessen the culture shock.
