A woman from Ohio has died after being hit by a minibus near Montego Bay, St James.
Authorities identified her as 48-year-old Latanya Shivers. They did not specify her hometown.
Police said in a statement late Friday that the minibus driver apparently lost control of his vehicle and hit Shivers and another man who were part of a group standing on a sidewalk. They said Shivers died while receiving treatment at the hospital, but the man is expected to survive.
The minibus driver has been detained for questioning. He has not been charged.
