Okay, so $157.08 won't change my way of life... still, it's my money and I don't like to be cheated out of it!
I bought something online from a vendor who is either new enough and/or running her/his business on a shoestring tight enough that s/he can't afford a proper merchant processor... so they use Paypal. Okay. I have a PayPal account (which I've had since 1998), since I've had my oldest ebay account (now my seller's account) since 1998... I don't mind using PP when I must. Goodness knows I've used it often enough - and long enough - and had relatively little trouble with it, over the years. Fourteen years is a long time. And I REALLY USE the hell out of PP, too, considering how much I buy on eBay!!
This vendor (a non-eBay purchase) is apparently a scam artist. Or else, something catastrophic happened to them or their family or something. Whatever. After I paid my $157.08 - via credit card, always via cc for extra layer of protection - they did not ship my items. I waited 9 days before requesting a tracking number (as mandated by PP). No reply. I shot off another few emails in the next 3 days. No replies.
So on the 12th day, I filed a complaint with PayPal. Even then - no reply... not to me, not to PP. Usually, this is the point at which a vendor will reply with some excuse or other. Nothing from this vendor. Three days later - on the 15th day, still receiving no reply, I phoned PP to ask if it was, in their opinion, time to escalate to filing a claim. I'd never before gotten to this stage without receiving some reply. PP said that they, too, were surprised, for the same reasons I was, and they admitted to me that they had checked and noticed that this vendor had done no further PP business since my transaction, which was their last transaction. PP suggested it was time for me to escalate my complaint to a claim. I did so.
Now, another 10 days later, yesterday, came and went. PP should have closed my case and found in my favor, and refunded me my money. I looked in my PP account this afternoon... and discovered that PP was still "waiting for the seller to reply". Oh, no!
PP seized the money the day I filed the claim! They have had it for 25 freaxin' days, now, and I want it back; it's mine!!!
Enough with this B-S!!
Horsepuckey!

So I picked up the telephone and called PP again. I blasted my PP agent. I didn't even wait to take a breath, I just kept on bellowing like a wounded bull. I think I kept on charging like a maddened bull, too... dwl
coz the agent got me a supervisor and that supervisor waited until I finally ran out of breath to tell me that I should hit "refresh" on my Internet page to see that he'd already closed the case, found in my favor, and initiated my refund back to my credit card...
I did so and saw it. He reminded me that it takes up to five business days for the refund to clear and get applied back onto my cc, which, of course, I knew.
My question: WTH did I need to get so upset and call PP to force them to manually do the right thing, instead of PP just automatically doing the right thing in the first place???
