Wow. There are automated immigration officers and new uniforms. The crotchety ole geezers are all gone. They have been replacing them gradually. It is a hip, friendly, multi-racial team. They are friendly. When you say hello, they don't grunt.
The engage in conversation. Lots of African American personnel. They're young. Some of the women have braids. Most of the young men have beards and moustaches. So much for battling with my son to shave or trim his facial hair. The immigration officer who dealt with us was juat a little bit older than my son and he had the same beard and mustache like my son. I told him "I asked him to trim especially for you." He laughed and said "I have to get a haircut and trim myself tomorrow in time for Christmas. My hair grows very fast."
