I meet the nicest people in the market, and backstage....































My good friend Isaak and his lovely wife are generally at the Festival, and if you hit Jamaica Day in Toronto on July 25-they will be there as well. Aliyah will be in her stall selling sclothing, (with their two sweet babies close by, and Izaak will either be supervising a second space for Carivegan OR touring the yard with his cart and coconuts... or corn soup in the evening. The soup is deeelicious!

Leave it to me to find a domino tournament on Saturday and of course... I got to play Friday night at one of my favourite clubs with one of my favourite partners!

The kick-off on Friday night was legendary Jamaican Sound System Stur-Gav featuring original members from the late 70s : DJ U-Roy (pioneer of the genre), Josey Wales, Charlie Chaplin and Brigadier Gerry.

I was kinda late arriving on Saturday night, Style Diva was waiting backstage for me, with AnthonyB's new CD... I left to grab a few shots of Capleton... and couldn't find her again!

Gee, I wish they wouldn't wear white! It's really hard to catch a good shot =all you see is jacket!

Gotta say... the first two days I did arrive 'after dark' so on Sunday I made sure to come early enough to actually see where I was going -and to get my bearings in case they hold the event on the island again next year!


As you exit the Metro, you turn left, and left again... and keep walking till you see the Biosphere... this structure was the US pavillion during Expo 67.



You then take the path to the right of the pavillion, and keep walking....







Follow the path... keep walking cross the road... keep walking....





and you will be on the bridge... look back and see this view.... and how far you have walked already!








Unfortunately... therere is an equal distance to cover to get across the bridge... so keep waling, go through the parking lot... and you will finally reach the entrance!

nightime falls... and you see this view, you better
go home - this is the Casino, and your luck is probably not with you!

Sometimes if you sneak backstage... you will find Moses from JahOne making another presentation of his signature label to the artists.
