Kanye West 808s & Heartbreak

Kanye West's 808s and Heartbreak has become one of my most listened-to CDs. "Amazing", "See You in My Nightmare" (with Lil Wayne), "Heartless" are among my favourite tracks but i really like the whole album.

come fi realize though that lots of folks hate it because of the heavy use of autotune - them see it as kanye trying not to be a rapper anymore but to become a singer and failing at it. i think kanye manipulates the autotune to add feeling to the songs.

who have this album? what oonu think of the songs?

Nope, never liked him from EVA.

His ego is way out there and smaddy need fi check him. He is a apoiled brat. big ole man nuh supposed to a throw tantrums everytime he lose sumthing he THOUGHT he should've won.

Him always inna odda entertainer like say him a gyal...i hate his face and he sounds afwul an annoy me when he talks..

genius is always misunderstood enuh. the same headspace weh mek him act dem fool ways is the same headspace from which springs his music. other people do drugs, kanye does cocky.

lil wayne is a good looking man. he's not a musical genius though, so im an kanye cyaan really compare.

i mean, i like lil wayne's music (lollipop is a classic, imo), and i kinna like his collaboration with kanye on &quot;see u in my nightmare&quot; on the same 808s and heartbreak, but im rap is a lickle juvenile compared to kanye.

lyrical delivery may be. anything else, lil wayne a schoolbwoy to kanye. musical arrangement. quality of lyrics. range of topics. even concepts - kanye tracked his own musical growth from college drop out to late registration to graduation. lil wayne is a wannabe genius, why im try fi do a rock album, that failed.

mi like him still but in no way is he a better artist than kanye.

your musical tastes are based on the (non)ego of the artist? somehow i didn't expect that of a former deejay. i'd be interested in knowing who else you've dismissed and avoided listening to their music because you felt they had too much ego.

OK...SHORT lists...Mean spirited...Van Morrison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Van Halen, Beenie Man

Those who I've also spent time with who were absolutely GREAT folks include... Fats Domino, Martha Reeves, Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys, George Nooks, Edi Fitzroy, Percy Sledge, Ben E King.

I have difficulty listening to the music of [or watching movies starring] MEAN people. Their output does not ring true.

okay. i see where ur coming from.

i cut kanye a lot of slack because i like what he does with his music and lyrics. i put a lot of his unfortunate actions down to youth and more recently, to the death of his mother. i don't see him as a malevolent person, just misguided. as far as i know, he hasnt pulled a gun on anyone, which is not something that can be said for all famous rap artists. that kind of thing now would make me think twice.

then again, i like TI's music and im deh a jail right now, so...

You're right. Youth has a lot to do with it. Some people mello with age...and then I re-check them.

Some never change. Time will tell.
