Re: Why (some) Black men love white women?
I can tell you why this topic is of interest to me as a Black woman...I don't for a SECOND claim to speak for all Black women. My perspective is unique.
I grew up in a predominantly White environment. In fact there was only 1 Black boy within my age group in my neighbourhood. There were 2 Black boys in an adjoining neighbourhood. In high school, there were a some Black kids from one of the poorest neighbourhoods in the city. Most of them had given up on school by the time I met them.
Bottom line is I grew up in an environment in which Black women were not even CONSIDEREd as partners. I automatically assumed that when I got to the stage where I met more Black guys, the playing field would be more level. That was not the case. While some Black guys were interested in Black women, others were clearly into White women. Now I believe that any two people of any race can meet, find they have something in common and fall in love. The HUGE discrepancy in the number of White female/ black male pairings vs Black female/White male pairings can't be explained away as something that is just nature taking its course. IMHO, as long as there is a shortage of partners for Black women with few men of other races willing to CONSIDER us as partners, this will always be an issue. When the playing field is more level this will, finally become a non-issue.

cause i always wondered myself why people get upset about interracial relationships but never wanted to talk about it with anyone in person cause people seem really sensitive about it [/qb]

This style proved to be a MAJOR drawback for one of my other careers. I then had long braids with extensions for about 6 years. This was only barely tolerated wrt my other career but it was my favourite style, next to the low natural as both were easy care. I did the wash and wear thing starting about 4 years ago. I have been straightening it with a blow dryer and curing iron starting 2 years ago. Believe it or not when
and I went to dinner last night he suggested either wash and wear or cutting it short and using wigs for my other career. He said he likes a natual look. Go figue when so many Black men are into de LANG hair ting.
