it was a good "kiss mi @ss book". although i still don't know what it was about... some books i can never really figure out. i have to wonder if i have some form of learning disability. i mean, i get the old lady chapping up smaddy fi something or other, but spell it out fi mi man....

i like the idea of Banjo, as well, because if sounds slightly autobiographical (i think McKay died in Morocco, nuh?) and the story sounds like it would deal with a combination of circumstances we don't often read about. But I'd wonder how easily we could get a book like that, either to buy or borrow.

and then again, i haven't read Andrea Levy's book either, and really want to.

So - I propose we try having two discussions: one for Small Island, and one for the Randall Robinson book, and see how this "twofer" goes.
