Nuh man di story pick up nicely layta on (once di war start). It start kinda slow but di closer to the end you get the more exciting it get.

if u read the earlier chapters carefully, u will get an idea of how jamaican classism operates.....it is the said ting even now....u seet in di descriptions , language etc of interactions between different people an situations...brilliantly done....matter of fact, the manner in which the author paints a spatial picture wid a phrase, a statement is brilliant

I hungered to make those chuildren regard me with as high an opinion as I had for the principal and tutors at my college. Those white women whose superiority encircled them like an aureole, could quieten any raucous gathering by just placing a finger to a lip. Their formal elocution, their eminent intelligence, their imperial demeanour demanded and received obedience from all who beheld them. As i prepared my lessons ready for the next day I resolved to summon every tissue of purpose within me to commnad that class to look on me with respect.

And now that I'm reading it for the second time, I pick up a lot more of these subtle descriptions that miss me the first time.

Now I'm noticing a lot more of the state of mind of the characters that drove them to doing different things.

yes...read it again...it is funny as hell in spots...plus the author takes such subtle jabs ...brilliant work really
