Februrary book discussion selections

Right: Here are the choices for our February discussion

1. In honour of Black history month, Things Fall Apart, the novel by celebrated Nigerian author Chinua Achebe.


2. For something completely different, French Women Don't Get Fat, by Mireille Giuliano.


And here's an accompanying article I'm inviting folks to read, published by Ebony in 2004: Sisters speak out: 'Too many Black women are too fat'

this article i hope will illuminate our discussion of the French book.

I am voting for selection 2. Because I feel that I would have an unfair advantage if we did #1. I teach book #1, so I would have IMO, an unfair advantage with it. Besides, book #2, I feel is a taboo topic, so paired with the article (which is one of the few Ebony pieces I have read) should be loads of fun [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70409-waytogo.gif[/img]

coolsie is right that the vote tek areddy. the two books mentioned above are the selections for the month of February. I'll be reading both, but clubbers can choose to read only one if they wish.

mi still a read randall book cause it dat deep...mi was going give it back to the library and buy a copy fi miself cause is a keeper...
