Faith does not require facts or logic.

If those who believe had any use for those things, they wouldn't need faith.

Other problems arise for the world when this acceptance of things based on faith crosses over into the real world and any authority figure's proclamations are taken at their word.

well i don't mind people having faith, but i think you would agree that we can use logic and facts to structure what is worthy of faith.

that is what continually boggles my mind. nobody believes in a flat earth anymore, for example.

it's not worthy of faith.

so too should fall away original sin, and a heap of other beliefs which are no longer - and I would argue were never really supported very well in the first place- worthy of faith.

But should each part of the doctrine be equally supportable only through faith? What if parts of the doctrine are not essential to the core teaching? Why should those be included in the requirements of faith?

Not Greek myths bredrin Egyptian myths five thousand years before Christ.......As a matter of fact there is a virgin/deity birth in all relegion predating Christianity..there is even one virgin birth in the old Testement with 12 brothers instead of 12 deciples

Well...It's a lttle known fact that Columbus sailed from Spain with the NIna, the Pinta , the Santa Maria and the Santa Louisa.

Sure, no one has ever heard of the Santa Louisa because it fell off the edge and they have covered it up since 1492.

I wonder if it was common back in Jesus' day for unmarried pregnant young women to claim they didn't have sex, and it must have been God who did it? Didn't they stone adulterers back then?

I've heard that was the tradition. And Joseph, Mary's fiancee, could have been the first to stone her and probably escape his embarrassment. But, according to the tradition, he didn't. And he took great pains and immense personal risks to save Mary and, later, the child she had. He was a courageous man, that Joseph.

Another question, after she conceived did Mary make her announcement immediately that it was God's son that she was carrying OR did she make the announcement months later and after she started showing ?
I haven't read the part of the Bible that deals with the timing of all that so it is a serious, if irreverent, question
