Oh my, the flinging shoe nah werk? That's tough! I am not kidding either, when I repeat that a small flying object that will not hurt the dog will usually get his attention and mek it stop whatever it is doing! If that nah werk, you will have to resort to one of a few scenarios that I can think of.
Off the top of my head....
leash/choker collar, possibly even a pinch collar (last resort and must be used carefully)....
Have him on his collar & leash. Kia, a normal web or leather collar nah gonna work here. You need the leverage to make a difference/statement with a training collar! Going through a window could be harmful/deadly.
Only use a chain training collar when it is in use as a training device. never leave one of these things on a dog at any time unsupervised. Accidental hanging can result.
What sets him off to make him do that? I would re-create the scenario and start from there...
for example, someone walking by setting him off:
I would be sitting around the room like everything criss & curry & have one of the kids or a friend go by a few times. let a few different people do it.
Not just a little "oh no bad dog" with a leash jerk will suffice here...
pull him over backwards if you have to the first time if so be it. He WILL notice! You will not hurt him. you will get his attention.
You do know the correct use of the chain training collar? Jerk and let loose, jerk and let loose. They will succumb to the "loose" part of that equation. <span style="font-weight: bold"> Each "jerk" gets a reprimand in a tone that says you mean it. Like in INSERT NAME NO !!!

When you finally do NOT HAVE TO JERK, give praise. Never give patting as re-assurance. It will only reinforce that the behavior is acceptable because the petting will be interpreted as "praise"
This won't happen in one session night, week.
If this is something that happens when people come over to your house, then have them come and you be ready with that leash training maneuver.
Have the person come inside in any instance and all but ignore him. none of this "oh hi there good boy" stuff. That is what would be a TRIGGER to lead to extra excitement/go to the window kinda thing.
<span style="font-weight: bold">The COMING IN THE HOUSE GREETING</span> is the next scenario that if that is what goes on...should stop. Hey, I can do this with my little dogs but I guarantee you if I did that with my Doberman or Standard Poodle I would be in a world of hurt here! They would be knocking me over to get to the door.
Your guy might just be getting a message about seeing people out the window, and then them coming in the house means he is gonna get petted! What is better than getting etted if you are a dog!
Is this something he does when nobody is home? Or does he just do it when his family is home and he thinks he has to protect you from whatever evil is lurking outside?
If he is susceptible to doing this thing when he is home alone, I would prolly crate him when he is unsupervised for his own protection, or take him with or bring him to daycare until the behavior is resolved.
My dog's trainer swears by the 'pennies in a pop can' - when the dog does something he shouldn't, you throw the can at him (no so much to hit him but hit the floor next to him - the sound of the coins clanging startles the dog and soon stops the behaviour.
I LOVE the idea of the pop can with pennies in it. Paris was a bad girl at the shop a while back. There is a half door that separates the grooming area from the dog food and toys, and on the other side of that half door is the door to outside.
Well, everytime I would go outside Paris would be jumping at that door until I returned. How annoying is that! Not to mention it was only a matter of time before she would fly right OVER the door and possibly manage to get outside. Something had to be done!
I set up a half door at home and worked with her for what seemed like forever. I made it collapsible so if she touched it, it would fall and then she would get a scolding. Yayy, it worked! At home I can put her in the living room to stay and I can go outside and come back in and she will be sitting in the living room in the exact same spot I where left her.
However, at the shop she was STILL jumping at the door. One morning she got a brush thrown at her (the closest thing available to the person that threw it at the time), and she has not jumped at that half door since! teeeheeee the attack of the flying brush from nowhere!!!

I dont mind if he wanted to look out the window but now he has destroyed things and we have had enough!!
When people come to the house we usually have to hold him as houdini will make his escape out the front door . I have a training collar somewhere but only have a standard 6ft walking leash
I can easily start with the mailman passing (yes the classic man the dog thinks he successfully chases away daily).

Kia, I know you aren't going to like this nor is he but you really need to crate him until you can get this to stop. Especially when you aren't home. It's only a matter of time before he goes through the window. I think it was Schultz that told me of a Standard Poodle in her neighborhood that has gone through the window not just once, but TWICE!
You can make the crate a wonderful place for him to spend some time. Nice blanket, a pail of water (don't fill the water pail he'd prolly just knock it over, just some water),
a chew or a bone or a kong or something.

Yep, the answer should be last wednesday! Your 6 foot leash will suffice nicely. The closer you are the better leverage you will have. Do you have a comfortable couch or nice seating area where he does this? Put the collar and leash on him and make yourself comfy! Do not be afraid to give a jerk with everything you have. Do not be afraid to see him fling over backwards if you are strong enough to do it. It won't hurt him, it will send a big message. A few times of that will help.
Another thing you can work on is basic commands. As long as you have the leash and collar out, start by teaching him the sit/stay. Each command should start out with his name.
INSERT NAME SIT! INSERT NAME STAY! using his name first will get his attention better and eventually you should only have to say his name. When Paris hears her name when i use a "certain tone" she stops dead in her tracks from whatever it is she is doing. You can eventually use hand commands so just your hand signals will tell him to do those things and I know he is smart enough to learn this fast!

The only other thing I can think of at the moment is a shock collar...you would get the behavior stopped in record time. You said they made a hole and they will if you don't re-adjust the position regularly. It will stop this behavior if you shock him and also use voice commands INSERT NAME NO at the same time, you should quickly be able to replace the collar with just your voice. I would only use the collar in extreme situations and I would say you have one of those on your hands because of the dangers of the window.
A friends adolescent Standard Poodle just ran into traffic last Friday. Thankfully she didn't get hurt. Yesterday she got one shock collar and that won't be happening again and the collar might only need be used a few times and done.
Hopefully soon you can get his attention and get him to stop rushing to the window by just you telling him, so you can eventually ditch the leash.
Can you barrier him from the room with the window? Maybe caffine will help me thing of something else that might help.

This is the current barrier. At the moment we have work going on in the house so while stuff is there it is not placed decoratively
and this is his view from which he has jumped on the sofa (when we are not around) and give his 'command performance'
Clancy knows and does his commands but when he gets excited it is another story. We do daily command training (so he knows who is alpha and not get into protective mode).
Your right I have to do doggie boot camp again with him.

They generally like things to remain the status quo. Is this just starting since your construction or gotten worse since the work started?
