bloody stool

My brother in law is on the way to the vet with his Pomeranian Bella.
She is having bloody stool.

They do not give her bones or scraps.. She does not go out alone. She is fully vaccinated.

There have been food changes. And she has eaten worms in the garden.

Barney had this problem back in March (not sure if he got some raisins or it was oil packed Sardines) He is fine now.

I really hope that Bella is ok. She is his baby.

Good luck with Bella and what a pretty name. I know it is stressful when you have no idea what the source of the problem is.

I do feed my dog bones but have not had any problems. Sometimes they do get into things that you know nothing about. For instance, the other day Madame Butterfly came in the back door proudly toting a bird feather in her mouth. How she got it and under what circumstance she thought I would allow her to hide it in the house, I do not know lol. That was call for an immediate DROP command.

Just try not to worry. He's taking her to the vet and that is the best place for her right now.

Hopefully it is just that. He said that he has been giving her a lot of treats (good stuff / Natural Balance). He is trying to reward good behavior as she can be a bit of a problem child.

My pit used to try to carry dead birds in the house. They used to get in the enclosed porch and could not find the door. Then it was curtains. She was FAST!

When they adopted her her name was Betsy. Bella suits her much better.

I know the feeling, but she's a mini poodle though lol.

I had a peekapoo until I was into my 20s who I said was part bird dog. She only weighed 17 pounds herself but would seriously come to the door with a bird in her mouth. There was just the carport and a backyard so I'm still unclear how she hunted them down. The first time she did it I just screamed and slammed the door in her face.

I have only had two dogs since then, but I swear &quot;drop&quot; is my most critical command. They learn drop before sit or stay. She traumatized me lol. When I saw that feather in Bfly's mouth, I broke out in a cold sweat (no blood though so that was a good sign).

I know this is a serious thread, but I just had to share. Keep us updated on Bella.

It is a good idea to run through all scenario's for sure. Depending on how a dog is acting I will generally run through a few tried and true things before incurring a vet bill. I kind of just went through this last week with Paris. She she had been with her breeder for a few days getting a hair-do update, then 2 days after coming home she had the bloody runs. We had also been to class the night I picked her up so I was worried she contracted something from school.

I stuffed an anti-diarrhea tablet down her throat 2 times a day for 2 days.

We thought it might be food (or something from school), so I fed her eggs for a day and it went away. Normally, I would have fed her rice with a little hamburger but the store is almost as far away as the emergency vet. The next step would have been to bring a stool sample to the vet. I had all kinds of high vet bills running through my head, everything from ex-ray to blood work and the like and of course, it was a weekend.

If she had been acting sick, off to the vet, otherwise I will do some other things first.

Good to hear whatever it is, does not sound too serious!

yeah Tango had that last year, Vet said it was Giardia or sumting like that. parasite ting.

That can get nasty and is very easily picked up.

With my vet I can drop off a stool sample, which saves a whole lot of money.

However, since I co-own Paris with her breeder, I don't do anything medically (or pretty much otherwise) without calling her first. Actually, I was very worried last weekend and it was she that suggested I just chill for a few days and see if it might be food. I stuck her on California Natural after that and now she is fine. whew.

Keesha, we assumed Tango got it from eating cat poo from the back yard. Stry cat love to use mi garden as a litter box, and Tango is usually unsupervised back there.

Can't think of any precautions to take other than keeping him locked up inside but the vet gave him some medicine (free ) and he has not been bothered by it since. I think they build up a resistance but I could be wrong.

now he has an iron tummy, can eat anything with out it upsetting the balance....like switching food an dem tings
