yes imo there's a lot of bonding between parent/pet
in the early months, and even if the animal grows up to be a bit strange, u more understanding cause u done

I still plan to get Madame Butterfly a playmate.
If I get a brown dog like I intend to then I'm going to name her "brown dog". Just kidding, I was thinking about Lady Godiva.
So for nicknames, I'd have Flygirl and Diva. At least they won't sound alike so as to avoid confusion.Comment

I don't want to adopt a 10 year old, but I can't lie, I would not mind if somebody else had already put in some work on the housebreaking and leash training. I do understand wanting to raise from young puppy phase though because you were the influence and don't have to try to figure out what someone else did right or wrong.Comment

when the girls gone to college, no, graduate from college, I will get a dog... a golden retriever, female, and her name shall be Chips.

Golden Retrievers and Labs seem to be really good pets. I just prefer smaller dogs. I have a friend who adopted a young lab that was a trained dog for the blind. I hate to admit it but I'm still a little jealous to this day about that dog's temperament and obedience.Comment

i'm just a dog tolerator but when i see my neighbour's golden retriever i always smile- it always seems so pleasant and happy, and it has nice flowing fur (not a weave
)
If I ever had to get a dog
- i would want a mini golden retriever (since is merka and with the weather etc, the dog haffi come inside)- I don't know if them come up with that breed yet

My neighbors have 2 retrievers but one gone to live wid di big daughter dat married recently...the girls love the one that is there now (Gracie) They really adore her and somewhere in me the fish-only person adores her too...

I don't know for sure what I will do when the sad day comes and I lose Rosebud the Dobergirl. I have had a Doberman by my side since 1974 and I can't imagine life without one. I toy with the idea of "downsizing" a little bit, and I'm considering a German Pinscher because they are also "guardy" but in a smaller package. If I get one it would end up with a German name but my dogs always name themselves over time so I will wait on a name choice. If I get another Doberman I may do the same but like Rosie, it will prolly be a rescue so might already have an acceptable name. Rose did not, I was told her name was Ginger.
