has started for the family room

out went the drywall, the ceiling and the fireplace


When the fireplace was removed the workers found carpet underneath the fireplace [img]/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img]

The green & white tile is part of the original house..


All the drywall is down and temp supports are in place..

MIL seh she no want move again \o/ so we just a add insulation inna de ceiling fi reduce the vibrational noise, tek off the evil popcorn walls & ceiling (a gift from the prev owners), replace de bar, create an interior entrance wid french doors & have matching french doors pon de exterior.

Yes Nanny Nanook it will be a lot of work and hopefully will be well worth it !

Right now we are on a minor delay as there is a steel beam that has to be extended out and placed into the foundation... should be inspected by Thursday & then we are back on plan

We ran into a snag as there is a steel beam in the ceiling that had to be expanded so we had to get a permit to build an extension to the steel beam and reinforce the foundation.. Found out this AM the permit & drawings have been approved so we should be on our way again starting Wed of next week.

In the meantime doors are being delivered today and I am also going to a contractor warehouse to look for the interior french door -- got a price of $250 instead of $700 at Lowes [img]/forums/images/graemlins/bannana_purple.gif[/img]

$250 sounds great. I love french doors..need a set of three myself...will you have to stain them yourself?

the contractor will stain the doors for us .. I think he is going to paint it.. The good part about this whole project is that I used the same contractor as my neighbor across the street did so I can go look & see how they did things there to get an idea how it will come out [img]/forums/images/graemlins/bannana_purple.gif[/img]

Right now we are in a standstill awaiting inspections.. We have passed the plumbing inspections the 1st of the electrical inspections.. the next ones are the framing and insulation inspections for sept 7 & 12th .. Once the framing inspection is completed, the insulation will go in.. once insulation is completed then sheetrock goes up, the electrical folks come in again to put in the sockets. After yet another electrical inspection then the everything will be closed up, painted, tiled, bar & sink installed then... Final inspection..

Heating ducts have been added


Bar area plumbing installed. It was originally installed in the wrong location based on prelim specs.. The final specs never made it down to the project manager & carpenter.. So similar to life in the IT world [img]/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img] Nethertheless, I picked up on it quickly and then provided the correct specs.. The plumbers came & installed the pipes in the correct place.

the new door to the garage... the kids leave the light on in the garage constantly so having a small window is a quick way to see if it is on or not \o/
