More lilies, these were just planted last year. They'll probably bloom over the weekend.
These are pansies or something, I'm not sure. I planted them last year but I wasn't sure they would come back. They've bloomed, though, I have to get pictures of them.
This grassy plant to the top right, I'm not sure what it is, but it blooms pretty flowers, probably in July or August. It gets thicker every year. And baby lilies in front, planted last year.
Very nice Blueness! You have some lovely varieties of Hosta there! You should start to break them up after this season, move them around, trade some, pot some up and sell them, whatever!
The bluish-purple ones are Iris. They are short lived, but oh so lovely.
The bushy one there by your asiatic lilies is a daylily I would say. There are thousands of varieties. Healthy specimen, again.
The little one in the front might be a sea thrift, but I can't quite make it out. Can you get a couple of closer and clearer pics?
I like your blue deck!

As you call the names, I remember what I bought.
Yes, the grassy one is daylily. I don't remember what it looks like, though. I think it's reddish.
I'll post pictures later of the little one, I swear it's something like pansies or something...
Re my blue deck, can't you tell what my favorite color is?
nice garden there blueness. that little as yet unidentified plant appears to be a dianthus.
if you're moving...i'd split the hostas before i left, pot some pieces up to take with me. why buy new? the new owners will never notice anything missing by next year...those hostas grow furiously.

That might be the name of it, loops. I'm afraid that if I try to divide the hostas I'll damage them irreparably. I may try, though, because I do love them. has told me the same thing, that I should take some of the plants with me.
The lilies have spread, also. I only planted one two years ago and about two or three more last year. I like plants that spread, especially if they bloom pretty flowers.

I don't know anything about the soil or what hostas will and won't grow in. Can you treat the soil?
yknow blueness...the more i look at that little plant, i think GB might be right with her guess of sea thrift. hard to tell from the pic. it's def either a sea thrift or dianthus.
as far as the hosta's, i'd split them now. i'd remove that solid colored one entirely, as it will soon be taken over by the others anyway. with the others, just try one of the bigger ones. lift the whole plant out of the soil and then take your shovel and split it in half. replant one half and pot up pieces of the other half. keep the potted ones in the shade and water well til you're ready to move. you can probably get a couple plants out of that one solid colored one as well.
i've got some out back i plan to dig, split and place in other spots around my yard.
Here is a photo of sea thrift (aka sea pinks) from elsewhere:
TDude, it is definitely NOT acidic soil. The whole Northeast is acidic, and they grow well here. Is it really dying or just looks like heck with holes and tears? It could be slugs. Are yyou sure you have acidic soil, btw? Makes me wonder if your soil is too alkaline....not that I know if that is an issue with Hosta.
Blueness, you WON'T kill this hosta. Promise. Get yourself some nice big pots and get to dividing! They will keep in post for a long, long time. Trust me, I know.
