I will use the water to flush after rinsing the dishes too. Here it is about half a gallon of water to the kitchen sink before I get hot. That is gallons of water a day. Just running it into the drain for no reason is a terrible waste. </div></div> I usually save the first water for the flowers,and just refill the water cans and leff dem inna de rooms.
other times, I just fill up the small pans me have on the registers, as me use them fe hydrate the house, and de plants..

Ha, yes plants! Works perfect for that too! I wonder how many hundreds of gallons of water people send down the drain each month just letting water run until it is hot. The ideal thing would be the tankless water heater and if i lived in a real house I would definitely have one.

I don't drive a hybrid but I've taken to getting my errands done all in one day and only leave home about once a week at the moment. Hybrids won;t do me any good living where I do, I never drive in a city. Well, almost never and if I do it is only passing through!

I drive mys scooter in summer though!

How do you love your Hybrid?

I LOVE my hybrid...used to have to get gas in my Subaru Forrester once every week - 10 days....and it had a 15 gallon tank...so at todays rate it would be about $42+ to fill my tank.

No I fill up every 10-14 days...with a 10 gallon tank...so less than $30 to fill up....usually about $25.

Plus its just a NICE car...its got a GPS, back up camera, comfy and roomy, nice stereo, a built in blue tooth so when I drive and my cell phone rings, it can be answered thru the stereo...

The only thing I dont like so far is that it takes longer for the heater to heat up...kinda rough on cold mornings!

Very impressive OchiGal!! I am a rabid recycler and I can't do that! I don't have a disposal (septic) but I do compost - albeit not as much in winter.

Be careful about shredding junk mail and colored flyers for compost - lots of heavy metals adn such. Better to recycle. A local school may have a bin that is also a fundraiser.

I don't use chemicals on my property at all. I do use cleaners, but look for ones that are "green" except for my bleach. I am such a germaphobe, I truly can't imagine living without cleaners that have bleach (clorox cleanup, wipes and bleach for any clothes/sheets/towels that will take it).

not savings but in helping the environment by using wind energy

you will have to check with your local electric company for a link.. Our electric companies are different

the worms inna the compost pile love the ink inna de paper, but a usually mail me use anyway that dont have much colored ink other dan black..

You are only allowed to put out 3 bags of garbage every two week
but every week recycling is picked up and you can recycle unlimited amount
we also have the green bin where we put food scraps, diapers and other stuff and that is also picked up every week

we here get our garbage picked up twice a week, but if u tip off the garbageman, you can get it picked up more often..

Anyhoo..
the recyclables get picked up once every two weeks

I take my recycling and my trash to the local transfer station. I have such little trash it is not worth it to pay someone to come and take it. There is no limit on how much we can bring and it's free.
