it is stressful to me to see bunch a pods a siddung pon mi bay window wid standard homemade heating pad and o ne piece a stick a keep de sitten dem level [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif[/img] but mi like the flowas & tings when dem a bloom doah so mi noh seh nuttin


it a thunderstorm one minute and big bright sunshine the next minute round here so mi just clean up as the rain stop

to do the seeding thing is like planned chaos. I just cant take the pots and stuff all around the house until they can go outside. My house isnt big enuff for all of that.

That's why I'd like to borrow ROOTS' son to build a nice greenhouse in the back yard for me [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]

777's [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70459-hugs.gif[/img] it is too bad you live out east cause it would be nice to have someone to garden talk with. you are right about gardening cultivating patience.....It really forces you to slow down and focus on something else. For me, it is my zen activity.

plus digging in the dirt is a good way to relieve stress. many ppl own their lives to either a new plant dug in the garden or a loaf of bread since I tend to do one or the other when I have the urge to kill someone in real life. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

me garden cus me like it, and plus it relaxes me too..
My place is one of the most colorful front yards ya round ya, cus flowers inna display all the time..
Me early tulips getting ready fe bud...in fact three a dem bud already fromthe side of the house, but a guess it may be due to the fact that them get nuff sun over deh so anyway..

me actually do yawdwuk yesterday

de front is handled professionally cause if mi did wait pon mrKia fi do it de grass has gotten to be 10 inches high and wid de ed begly lawnmower dat a 3 charge pon de battery fi mow.. so mi puddung mi foot and de landscaper whe mow next door just ride on ova..

however the backyawd is a next story.. so de 4 a wi out deh a move bushes, rake leaves that did place ova de garden beds and general cleanup..

nuff branch chopping, nuff leaf raking & mulching fi go eena de compost pile..

Kia, I just re-read what I wrote and I did mean to say callaloo and not collard greens [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif[/img] I was wondering who is that likes to eat collard greens and then realized it was me that typed it [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

I started yard cleanup on Sunday [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bannana_purple.gif[/img] The paint on my deck is coming off and little chips have made their way into the garden bed in front of it [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img] I have to remove the top layer to get rid of all the flakes and repaint it as soon as I can so it doesnt continue.

I am gonna price out some bricks on the weekend because I want to raise the vegetable bed a good 1/2 foot. Not all my carrots came out well because at one end of the bed there is a lot of clay under the dirt. I had a few mutant looking carrots at one point [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]

So, raising the entire thing will be good. I cant believe how expensive good organic dirt can be though. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif[/img] But buying cheap dirt never pays off cause the last time I did that, I ended up with a backyard full of weeds after the sod was laid down.

Nyla, did u ever thought of doing a compost pile and creating your own organic dirt?
I have been doing it now for about 3 years, and its wonderful. My plants grow HUGE, and I dont use fertilizer of any sort..


As for the callaloo, me contractor wha did me kitchen, he gave me some young callaoo plants lass year, said something that they should be back up, cus they resow, but a dont see any evidence yet... [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif[/img]
anyhoo, god is good, cus me just find a brand new packet of callaloo seeds under a pile a clean clothes inna de dresser. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bannana_purple.gif[/img]

u know, I have thought about it but just havent executed the idea yet. I bought a couple of organic gardening books a few months back that outline how to start. I understand the basic ingredients etc. it's just the containment which is an issue for me. How and where do you store it 7777's?

I have managed to stay away from non-organic soil and fertilizers but it just cost an arm and a leg to do so. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif[/img]
