but I agree if you're sticking with the earth tones, the right would be a better match.

I really appreciate all the encouragement and feedback.

I guess I should tell you that we went with the tile on the right. What is hard to see in the pictures is just how textured the tile on the left is. It looks a lot like stone, with lots of divots, and I was concerned it would be too much pattern on the floor. Also it is a smaller tile and cost a lot more than the tile on the right. I am going to try and take some better photos of the tile to show you how textured/patterned it is. It is really hard to see in the photos.



I liked the tile on the right for the warmth it adds to the room and how it really brings out the yellow/honey tones in the cabinetry. Now our problem is tying the stainless into everything and picking the right backsplash. This is where I could really use some advice and suggestions. I sort feel like our granite is “cool” toned and will work with the stainless, see the blue/grey quality to the granite?



However, now I am struggling with the right backsplash! Help!

Boundie, how much space are we talking here? Do you know the sq ftge of backsplash?

Your counter is a blend of warm and cool. You could play up either or both. Did you look at ann sacks? see the bamboo design under glass tile? Also, do you like the subway tile look?

I love a lot of the ideas thrown around in here! I would love to do a backsplash with occasional stainless tiles or something to that effect.

I haven't had a chance to look at Ann Sacks but will do.

A rough estimate would be about 25-30 square feet of backsplash is needed.

((Loops)) bring your toys back. You have great ideas and I need 'em!

The soffit is gone and the 36'' cabinets will go straight to the ceiling with a small molding. We are thinking about doing the tile up behind the vent hood all the way to the ceiling as well as around the window. Sort of like what Bandanna showed in that photo with all the crazy/loud tiles.

I am charging the camera batteries tonight so I can take some more photos. The electricial wrapped up today and our &quot;heavy-up&quot; and lighting is finally done! I hope to get more photos soon.

Easy To Clean. A metal backsplash is possibly the simplest surface to clean. Hot water, soap and a sponge will most often do the trick. If needed use a softer scouring pad (not steel wool) for a tough mess.

You don't need to seal it, wax it or oil it, but wipe it dry to avoid water spots and don't let acidic foods (tomato, citrus, coffee) sit too long (hours/days not minutes) on the surface or it could stain some metals.

Heat and hot pans are not a problem for metal countertops and backsplashes.

Dents and Scratches unfortunately are easily created so don't expect your backsplash to remain pristine.

Polishing. A stainless steel backsplash will not require polishing, but a copper backsplash, zinc or brass backsplash will need to be polished to maintain the original shine.

These latter metals are prone to &quot;oxidation&quot; which produces a patina of uneven color, which is characteristically beautiful or ugly depending on your tastes.

Price
A metal backsplash can be one of the most expensive backsplash materials on the market. Metal is very unforgiving and precise placement of outlet, switch and window cutouts is required.
Expect to pay between $20 per square foot just for the metal up to $160 including all cutouts, mounting on a substrate backing and installation.
