i like it QK! looks like stained glass.
i did a similar thing with not as great a result. Did mine with old business cards i'd been saving. They were keepsakes sort of...(my Dad's card, bro in laws, the woman that sold us our house, friends etc), but what to do with them?
i glued them on an old coffeetable and did a mosaic of sorts around them with pcs of paint chip samples you get at the paint store. then i poly'd over the whole thing.

But stained glass works for me.
