Ok, there will be no sitting on anything not concrete out there. Snakes and I are not friendly.

And just on the other side of the white fence is the cable box for the houses on my block. Its not a good area to put a garden. If there is a problem or if they re-wire, they dig up right along the path in front of the banana trees.

The edging around the garden will be more functional than anything else. While I love the blocks that Compry posted, those things aren't the best option during hurricane season. Lots of people have them, but I wouldn't want to have to worry about that.

Again, please keep it simple. I have to crawl before I can walk or run.

Can you take a picture with a more panoramic view - from the brick padding spot maybe?

Alright Nylah. I'll take some more in the morning.

I am not a gardening expert, nor do I have an undying love of gardening. I am looking for suggestions on how to fill in the areas around the trees.

I understand Pepper. The thing is you do want something that as it grows with time, you can still manage the layout. What seems simple and easy now may come a complicated mess in a few years if it isnt planned well. That has been my experience!

Come with the pix in the morning and then some better ideas might flow out of that.

get some rhizome barrier, dig a trench about 2 ft deep and as wide as dem view. insert dirt and insert bamboo. In a few years dem will just see the trees and not you space

Extend de patio wid cement sitten until you get to the vegetable garden and bamboo walk. If you noh want do de cement sitten how bout some likkle stone things?

Why unno keep talking about path? What path is that? Is di banana walk yuh mean? BTW, I think the method to my madness re placement of the banana tree was to keep the dropping of the suckers in line. If I put bananas in the middle, then the 'walk' would get out of control. <span style="font-style: italic">Shet up Compry.</span>

Everybody down here have their banana trees against a fence. So I think that correct.

Kia, di budget not big enough to include pulling a permit. But pavers and stones might work.
And please don't mek me cuss bad wud in yah tideh by asking about THOSE PEOPLE behind me. Me nuh want yuh ban me tideh.

It would be my greatest desire to put bamboo or some other form of high growing vegetation and never see them again. But THOSE PEOPLE will trim back the tree and dump the trash in my yard. And ascording to my cities finest, is my tree, it grow in my yard, so THOSE PEOPLE are within their rights to do so.

Yuh see how yuh mek me blood pressure go up this morning. Anyway, as me say before, me don't use the back at all. When me get rich and can enclose the patio, I will privitize that.

You need a permit fi cement pawt a de yawd? I was going to suggest pavers but den mi did tink bout hurricane season but if dem work den u set pon u banana WALK. Basically mi was trying to find a way fi noh badda wid grass at all.

and if you place the bamboo bout 1 ft from the fence border dem can trim dat whe hang over the fence on their side to kingdom come and fi u side will be nice &amp; bushy so you cyan see dem. The bamboo I was thinking grows straight up.

Since is simple you look just put the pebbles and done, move the banana to the fence
and have your vegetable garden to the other side.

I was going to say the same thing as Kia. If you keep the trees where they are at, extend the bricks so you cut down on the mulch and grass issue and incporate the banana trees into the vegetable garden along the side.
