I spent earlier today looking in Rona and Home Depot but I think I will hit my garden centres in the rural areas.

I dont mind spending money for good product and you are right, they seem to know what they are talking about better than the box stores.

I priced out some different brick types today as well. I want to replace the black plastic edging under the window with them. When I am less tired, I'll post pictures I took of my choices.

i suppose the Africans did not have to work too hard at getting their wives to work the field as I thought. Theuy seem to live for that garden. They just have to se the snow clear,and they are ready to pull up everything and do it all over again. please don't call me until it is finished.

Dr. D... I think it has to do with the whole mothering thing. All that nurturing and tending and feeding and watching things grow.
Just like children.

Vegetable gardens are even more rewarding, especially when you start to see those likkle tiny tomatoes and cucumbers and squash...

RE: Black mulch... It's a great look. Neutral color, won't clash with whatever colors you choose. It looks rich.

The vegetable garden is for the back and I cant wait for the harvest

But I must say Dr Dudd, I find your comment rather strange thing to say. I dont look at gardening and toiling in the soil as something that is beneath me as a woman. Never will since creating life and nuturing that life isnt a tiring or demeaning task.

RE: Black mulch... It's a great look. Neutral color, won't clash with whatever colors you choose. It looks rich. </div></div> I love the fruits of the garden. I even love to look at the flowers, but as for the tilling of the soil and the weeding planting etc, Ni that is a spectator sport for me.
well As My great grand, use to say some have to produce and some have to partake and they are never always be the same.

I amall for murturing as long as it is not about me getting so close to the soil. i just can't take the smell of the mold in the soil. same problem I have with the taste of mushroo. taste like the smell of soil.

well that is where we will part ways. I love the smell of dirt. I can get high of off the smell of the earth.

And given that there are enough tools nowadays to help with the toiling part, as someone who has back problems, gardening doesnt bother mine. You have to be smart about it like anything else.

And I do it out of pure love of the act and not at all out of necessity. So produce or partake has no class meaning for me.

</div></div> That's the difference with me. a good day is averyday that ai watch a patient cries for joy, becaus ethey thought their vondition was hopeless. or whne i have some little kid give me a high five, because they don't know that i don't do hi fives as a means of saying thanks.
That's a good day for me. i look forward to it every day. I even miss it when I don't work. It gives me a feeling of accompolishment. i still can;t get it when my adult daughter c
is always surprise whe n patients she don't know is so happy to se me some place we go. She is so embarrassed.
She actually blames me for that.n

I could say I dont know why you would come into this thread and try to be demeaning but that would be a lie on my part.

Comparing what we do as a <span style="font-weight: bold">hobby </span>to what you do for living and which is more gratifying smacks only of your preceived sense of superiority that you need to tone down. What I do for a hobby, and which was also Q.K.'s point isnt remotely the same sense of gratification I get from how I make a living.

So it you can leave your pompousness at the door then you are welcome to join this thread. If you cannot then I suggest you find another one to spout your silliness.
