this fava lambsquarters. its a weed. have nuff in my garden. it apparently edible though so even though a no callalloo u no too far off, lol. some places consider callalloo a weed.

Nope. Look at the pix I posted a page back... the hanging pots have strawberry plants in them.
Whatever that is, it isn't calaloo (my neighbor behind us is growing it in his yard) ... and it's not strawberry plants, nor rhubarb (I have both - 3 kinds of rhubarb, too) ... and it doesn't favor anything I am aware of that's edible, really.
It sure does look like a weed hereabouts called 'lambs weed'... or sintin like that.
It's a <span style="font-weight: bold">very invasive weed</span>, too, if it's that lambs stuff.
Just keep <span style="font-style: italic">even pix</span> of it away from MY garden, thanks! dwl

Hereabouts, people rip it out as fast as it grows back... and may will even poison it.
Yet, we all eat ramp and garlic ramp... and certain fungi (muhsrooms) that grow on some of our trees. (it's a once-very-Italian neighborhood, and we <span style="text-decoration: underline">all</span> know which wild mushrooms to eat and which not to eat)
He thought that it might be what's called <span style="font-weight: bold">Lambs Tongue</span> -- which, he says <span style="font-style: italic">IS</span> edible...
... but so is dandelion edible (if you don't mind <span style="color: #CC0000"><span style="font-weight: bold">B-I-T-T-E-R!</span></span>).
Dandelion is great for wine-making, but I don't want it in my salad, or anywhere on my plate!
Mr Witchy's pretty sure it's <span style="text-decoration: underline">not</span> lambsquarter, though (which, sez he, <span style="font-style: italic">IS</span> edible, being related to chard).
Nor does he think it favors Lambs Tongue all that much in it's growth habit, even thouth the leaves look a bit like Lambs Tongue. He says that Lambs Tongue grows like a miniature bush...
He says get it looked at & identified before trying to eat any of it.

I drink danelion tea as a blood cleanser so this stuff wont kill me. Well on the other hand maybe it will. So I wont try it until I take a cutting to the garden centre

nylah I have a whole bunch of the callaloo seeds so I will mail them to you when I can find them again.. i think i last saw them in the glove compartment

a number of sources show the plant in nylah's garden as being lambsquarters weed. <span style="font-weight: bold">lamb's tongue </span>is a different plant, also grows wild.
nylah,if u live near a jamaican neighbourhood or near where people grew callalloo just check the wild areas near there. callalloo goes wild and weedy very quickly.
also, it's called amaranth, though if u buy the seed dem name so i'm not sure u'll end up with the callalloo u know.
