I'm a lil shame to post pics but I'm going to let my need for help overpower it. I'm good at blocking out the shame since I have to send guests in there.

Lawd help me if the water came out old them holes strong. Now that's a good shower. I read you say you got more to fix up, but I swear that's got to be the best bathroom in the house right now.

water pressure is great...remains unaffected during simultaneous flushing or use of any other faucets...plus you don't have a change in temps either

We're trying to plan a bathroom addition in the basement and I'm debating the layout. I LOVE your layout / small space.

And btw - it looks good, even tho some of the parts aren't what you ordred!

Partially Tiled Bathrooms

what unoo tink bout ie? thinking to do just the shower enclosure in a subway tile and a line of glass mosaic tiles in the middle...already gone over budget fi di bathroom and i have to cut back somewhere....


bathroom is to be done in white with chrome finishes...

lovely shaped bath but rusting and the drain system was not working properly...had to tie it up wid piece a strong fi di watah let out

Subway tile is pretty (did that in the kids bathroom sans mosaic to save $$) but if you want to save some money you could use regular tiles (the 12 x 12) as they cost less and will use less tiles. A friend of mine did her bathroom that way tile with a trim around and it came out beautifully.

Subway tiles are smaller therefore more labour intensive to install. To save money I did not tile the walls and the room looks ok. Did high baseboard molding and crown molding to give it a 'finished look'

oh yes please replace the toilet &amp; tub with white.. can always add colour with accessories

Did you decide to replace the tub or re enamel it?

yes not unusual for a kitchen to easily be $15K and up (which is why it took us so long to do it).

that being said..
you also need to add in lighting &amp; plumbing costs
flooring costs

do you have a window in the kitchen?
do you plan to have an insinkerator?
do you plan/want to have a instahot? (contractor suggested this to us and while it was on its own circuit breaker we love that pot noh need fi boil wata so much cause it is right there-- quick for making tea &amp; ting )


can you reuse some of the existing appliances for now &amp; upgrade later that may defer some of your costs

my suggestions
if possible get a super deep sink.. good for soaking pots without them being visible. we got a 25in wide 10 in deep sink and mi all put the compost bin pon de side and it hide nicely

if you want to cut costs now.. go with a laminate from now and then later you can get granite at a later point in time. Cost of laminate will easily be under $500 vs $3500

edited to add: mi just see pon Candace Olson show, Divine Design that you can also remove cabinet doors for a more open look...... but Sarbigail will have a field day with dat
