This is the one I snapped the stem on ...
and you know what ?????
it has been a week now - and it seems to be surviving ... I did not snap the stem all the way thru ....
There are some buds that were not open yet ... and they seem to be still wanting to open.
I will photo it tonight ....

the color of the wall ... it is just that dark red sort of color that you see in the first photo ....

so far - this is the only one that has a fragrance ... like black pepper ~
I go to Home Depot every weekend ... and shove my nose up into all the orchids .... searching for that 'chocolate' ~

Never knew about any farms, but went to the agricultural show in Haigue, Trelawny a couple times the day before it start to buy yard plants & several people had loads of beautiful orchids....most of the ones I liked were $1500-$2000, so I had to pass because there were other things I needed to buy (pots & specific plants plus potting soil)
and didn't have enough extra money.....but they were gorgeous....every color & variety you could imagine!! The ones I have in my yard are several types of wild ones that grow in the cockpits. I am really a plantaholic, but have to be czreful that I don't bite off more than I can chew because it is alot of work to keep them all thriving, especially with the lack of good reasonably priced potting soil available. What I've been using is goat manure mixed with our soil & that not only adds nutrition but also seems to make the soil more pourous.

I have tried to do "rescues" ... and get them on clearance and pay $10.00 per plant ... I think I have about 4 of those.
the others ...
I try not to pay more than $30.00
this sweet new one was only $18.00 and it has tons of buds to open -
so far - these have adapted well to the location I place them in ... while I do buy them with nuff flowers already on them to enjoy - the true test will be to be patient and keep them healthy and well once the current "show" is finished ... and get them to send out a new stem for "show" ....
I have gotten new leaf growth from the ones that have finished their flower stem for now .... so I am hopefull for a new flower stem as well -Comment
