I can see how cutting the tiles to go around the window is more of a challenge. Still for long term satisfaction, I'd say use tile all the way. It will look good too.

well, tulip, i'll chat with him tomorrow. technically it should be fine, because another contractor told me the larger the tile, the less time it takes to install. so it shouldnt be any more labour to put them all the way to the ceiling than if we were doing the 4x4 tiles that are there now.

Yes that is true.. Less tiling time and since he is cutting bigger pieces it will be faster

MGee are you tiling the entire bathroom floor to ceilling or just floor to ceiling for the bathroom? I think I got confused along the way..

Kia, i'm kinda following pz's lead. tile surround for the bathtub area, and tile on the floor. contrasting paint for the rest of the walls.



i bought 8 boxes of 12x12 tiles for under $80 dollars now i'm wondering how it will look to put the floor tiles in a diagonal pattern to the bath tub surround.

so today i went to IKEA to buy a little dining table for younger dawta's new apt, and take a look at these vanities - they come with both sink and cabinet for about $300:



but mek mi tell u, IKEA was like a zoo there was a lineup for shopping carts they were so busy. mi juss tek the dining table and step.

An interlude: on the way home from IKEA i ran into the worst storms i've ever driven in. the storm cloud came up suddenly, and busted big time. my wipers couldnt keep up, the road was like a river. all hail waina fall. on the highway, drivers had on their flashers, so i put mine on too. it was a little bit terrifying to tell the truth. many many cars pulled over to the side, i guess either they were spooked, or they maybe felt it was safer to wait out the storm.

the worst of the storm was over when i got home, but i just went to the basement and slept it out. went upstairs and found that the wind had twisted the screen for my bedroom window. first time that's ever happened.

anyway, life goes on. the sun came out and i went to Rona to get the sale tiles. between me and an indian family, there was only one open box of tiles left. so glad i went today.

so here's the bathroom as it is now. hasnt been really used in a couple months, so its a little grungy.

Tiles on the diagonal look nice and mek the room look larger.

Ikea is always busy here too.

Mgee you can also find cabinets/dressers on eBay, antique, salvage shops etc and cut the top to fit a sink of your choice

I agree with Gen the tiles on the diagonal going to the tub will look great!

edited to add: make sure u have the xtra tile to account for the diagonal..
