theres been new developments. O has been given a new horse she doesnt like. Mischief, who is as her name sounds. wants to do her own thing, and bucks if u try to crop her.

part of the reason O doesnt like Mischief is cause she is an Appaloosa, with the beautiful body and not so beautiful face.

we will see what happens next show.

Oh my! Hard to have to switch horses in mid stream, so to speak! I tried to switch horses for going on 30 years so I know what she means. I had many horses come and go while I had Bucko but I always went back to him. Appy's do not have the nicest heads, that's for sure. Bucko was half Appy and had that head shape so I was forever trying to correct the profile in images of him, taking them at the right angles and all.

If there's one thing an Appaloosa has though, is loads of heart. They are very smart and if O can get a handle on the new horse, she might be very surprised. Good luck O!!!

We had fallen out - badly - last October about her riding lessons, and the October schooling show we talked about in this thread...

Critters at the riding school

...she said would be her last. She rode poorly (for her), and got only 1 ribbon, a fifth place.

How we got there: she hated her coach, because the coach barked at her. i pointed out to her that the coach, who had high credentials, and with all her tough-[censored] ways, was pulling some great skills out of her (dawta) as a rider. i pressured dawta to adapt to the coach as a life lesson - <span style="font-style: italic">we cannot always get to deal with nice people and we must learn to keep our eyes on our long term goals as a way of dealing with an unpleasant immediate</span> - but she wasnt buying it.

plus dem give her a horse she didnt want for the October competition.

she decided that was it, the &quot;<span style="font-style: italic">dream</span>&quot; was not hers (yes, i admitted it was mine), and she was no longer interested in pursuing it. i made her call the school and tell them she wasnt coming anymore. she said fine, and did it. i cried and cried.

but she loves horses and she loves riding. here she is with Bo. He's with a riding school near where her grandmother lives.

There's an equestrian club at her university and she's thinking of joining it. We thought it would be interesting to see what effect, if any, there was of being 10 months out of the saddle.

We didnt go back to her old riding school. We went to one in the country, almost two hours from home, near her Granny's home. This farm/equestrian school is run by an immigrant from England. It's a lot smaller (about 20 horses), cleaner and more intimate than dawta's old riding school.
